A luxury parasol, handmade in Bali.
Around the circumference hangs a handcrafted trim made from opalescent mother of pearl hearts interspersed with cocoa beads, tassels and bells. They make a wonderful sound in a light breeze.
The hood is cream cotton with natural bamboo spokes. The wood pole is handcarved and painted with gilt.
The spokes are covered with a web of handwoven cotton.
The parasol comes in a cotton bag and does not include a stand. These exquisite pieces of furniture are ideal for a patio or lawn, but as with any sun umbrella they are best kept indoors when not in use.

Fine garden furniture for a patio or lawn, such as this sun umbrella, should be treated with respect. They are lovingly made on the Indonesian island of Bali where umbrellas are frequently part of religious ceremonies and festive rituals. If looked after they should last a very long time.
The umbrellas are made by Alit and his team, several times winner of the Balinese best traditional hammock competition. Each umbrella takes him and his skilled team over a week to make.
The wood pole is made from nyatoh wood which is verified by the Indonesian Forestry Department as coming from managed plantations in Bali (not other islands).
